Who Is Special to Me and A Hero In My Life

In life, we all have people that we feel are special and our hero in some way. Each and every day there are people who in their best efforts try to keep this world a safe place and who save our lives. Examples of these people are: firefighters, doctors, police officers etc. Unfortunately, these people do not get enough recognition. Among all these people, there is one person who is extra special to me. This is my mom.

Every mother has a purpose in life when God gives the gift of a child. When God gave my mom her special child, He gave her a struggle in learning how to take care of me because I have a disability Cerebral Palsy. My mom has overcome that struggle. She is always there for me no matter even if she is sick and will always go out of her way to make my needs important to her even though they may be small. She never puts herself before others, and never seems to think her needs matter before anyone else. My mom has a big heart and is not just here for me, but is always there to help others in need.

Whenever she hears of a family or child in need and can help in someway, she will. My mom has helped families that were not able to give a Christmas to their children because of not having money due to the loss of a job or that someone was very sick. If we ever won a big lottery, my mom always says that she would donate to a children’s fund. When I grow out of my wheelchairs and walkers, my mom will search for a family in need to give it to.

My mom will get out of bed with a smile, living life full of happiness. Not a day goes by where my mom always starts and ends my day off with laughter. She can brighten the dreariest of days. Every morning, we sit in the kitchen together and eat breakfast where it is nice and quiet. My mom has given me food, clothes, shelter, a warm bed, hugs and love. I wouldn’t have made it this far if it wasn’t for her and the things she gave me. I have a website that my mom created about me in 1997 about my life in growing up with Cerebral Palsy and how we cope each day. She spends a lot of time on it as she is very proud of me and wants to share our story.

My mom is so proud of me in my schooling and my grades. She always gives praise, tells me I am very smart, and whatever path I choose in life, I will be successful. She helps me sometimes when I am having trouble, and I am able to learn what she teaches me. She makes me really great cheese sandwiches every day. They are usually SO good I ask her to make 3 in a row. She cooks so well and sometimes makes her own recipes which turn out great. Some of the foods she makes that I love are pasta, ravioli, shepard’s pie, grilled cheese sandwiches, turkey and potatoes with gravy.

Around three in the afternoon I usually watch court shows with my mom, and afterwards we tell each other our perspectives of the case. Watching TV together can be so amusing because we may find something odd and make up jokes the whole time and just have fun. I do daily exercises and mom supports me each day, and some days she will even exercise with me. I really love my mom’s taste in music. I can actually sit and watch a music video with her because we both love music a lot and pretty much the same types.

When my day comes to an end, the best bath ever. Everyday, my mom runs me a warm bath with special bath salts of lavender and chamomile that are to help my leg muscles, and she gives me a daily mini facial. Not an evening goes by in where my mom will not come and tuck me in and give me the biggest hug. Every day, every night, no matter what time of the day it is or where we are, we always share that special something with each other. We say: “Love you, Forever and Always, No Matter What.” One of us will say “Forever,” and the other will say “Always.” We both end with, “No matter what.”

To me, these are the things that make my mom special and a hero in my life.
